2006 - Paul and Diana gave a presentation on the straw bale house project to the Portage Trail Group of the Sierra Club. There were lots of questions and lots of interest in helping...of course now that its almost finished...ha..ha... Also, check your March edition of "The News Leader" (a local Minerva paper) for a new article on our straw bale house project.
Oct 05 - Delroy's 6th graders learn about straw bale construction as an extension of an adobe house reading assignment. A very interactive and informed group of over 30 students learned about the history of house construction and the trend back to more environmentally friendly construction materials. Paul covered in detail how he and Diana used a timber framed structured filled with straw bales and covered with earthen plaster for their house in Carrollton. PRESS RELEASE: DBN's Straw bale house project gets press attention again. See the September 14, 2005 edition of the Farm and Dairy or check out www.farmanddairy.com There is a nice 2 page article entitled From Field to Fabulous--Straw Bales Build House of Gold which gives a human interest view of our project and a number of nice photos. Farm and Dairy's normal circulation is about 35,000; however, this issue is their annual Farm Science Review edition which is handed out to an additional 100,000 visitors to the review held each year South of Columbus, OH.
